HANNAH MORRISON is a joyful musician, conductor, and educator. She currently serves as the Associate Director of Bands at West Chester University, conducting the Wind Symphony, assisting the “INCOMPARABLE” Golden Rams Marching Band, and teaching graduate and undergraduate conducting classes. Dr. Morrison holds a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from the University of Missouri - Kansas City Conservatory (UMKC), where she studied with Steven D. Davis and Joseph Parisi. She holds a Master of Music Degree in Instrumental Conducting and a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Baylor University, where she studied with J. Eric Wilson and Isaiah Odajima. Hannah is highly sought as a collaborator, with experience conducting wind ensembles, chamber ensembles, new music ensembles, and athletic bands.
Hannah remains resolute in her commitment to providing engaging educational opportunities for students of all ages. Most recently, she was named director of the Intermediate Wind Ensemble program at the Interlochen Arts Camp. Prior to graduate studies, Hannah served as a band director in the Dallas Metro schools at Lamar Middle School and, as a horn instructor and brass pedagogy specialist with the acclaimed Marcus High School Band. Currently, Hannah maintains an active horn studio in the Kansas City area. |
Additionally, Hannah fosters artistic growth through horn playing and arranging. Through ensembles at Interlochen and the 2014 Disneyland All-American College Band, Hannah has worked with notable artists like Brad Gemeinhardt (Principal Horn of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra), Vincent DiMartino (trumpet soloist), and Wayne Bergeron (trumpet soloist). As an arranger, Hannah has written for The Mob Pep Band at UMKC and the Louisiana State University Tiger Marching Band. Additionally, Hannah has worked to develop outstanding conducting pedagogy reductions for the Kansas City Conducting Symposium of music by Jennifer Higdon, Chen Yi, Roshanne Etezady, Stacy Garrop, Florence Price, and Zhou Tian.
